Advocacy

As we all know that advocacy plays a crucial role in policy implementation. We visually impaired people who belong to a marginal section of society where the role of advocacy becomes even more crucial. We have also narrowed the gap between people and leaders. We call government leaders, heads of associations and presidents of different organisations on this platform so that they can share the latest policies, developments and ideas with people at large. This way, we also ask them the questions shared by our listeners. The best thing about it is that there remains transparency. People got to hear their leaders and powerful people talking on this station about the nearing future and vision.
We are working towards advocacy in two ways…
-Meeting and inviting government representatives and asking them about various projects of government and letting them know the real problems faced by us and making them answer the questions of our listeners about various policies and plans.

-working as a pressure group for the NGO’s working for disables.

-This actually spreads awareness about the working of disable community as how deeply our leaders dedicated towards the betterment of our community. - Some of the representatives who joined us in radio shows include…

-We invited the general secretaries of our three national organizations – national association for blind (NAB) mr. s k singh, all India confederation for blind (AICB) Mr. Jawahar Lal Kaul (padamshri holder), - and national federation of blind (NFB) Mr. Santosh kumar raungta which are affiliated with world blind union. - We talked to all of these and many more representatives of disability world. By talking to them Udaan Empowerment trust played a crucial impact on policy implementation and spreading awareness.

-Udaan Empowerment trust played a crucial role in passing of RPD bill (rights of persons with disability) bill 2016 -raised issue of women security -forced the national organizations to be transparent and improve the standard of education and cleanliness -they are now much transparent in the allocation of funds -students and even representatives of various organization comes to us if they are going through any issue regarding their organization and if they want to convey a message for the community.

-Vice president of NAB Mr. harinder mallik said that because of presence of trust we feel a lot healthier. Mr. Prassanna kumar pincha said that Udaan Empowerment trust is doing an amazing work and played a great role in passing of rpd bill. We conducted a survey on disability. In which we reached out to people and asked about their views regarding the government and its working for persons with disability. We collected around 1000 surveys and submitted that to government.

-From a long time government was talking of unique disability ID card but right after our survey government came up with that which was a real great achievement for Udaan Empowerment Trust . Wherever we see any discrimination we raise our voice. We filed a case with CCPD so the disabled community can get medical insurance without any issue. In the year 2020 government wanted to close two of the chapters of our National institute and because of our strong voice raising the government was forced to take this order back and which helped many students to continue their education.

Radio Udaan a Unique Project

Radio Udaan is a unique platform that provides a voice to the disabled community. Launched in 2014, it is run by visually impaired RJs and team members under the 'Udaan Empowerment Trust.' It is the only radio station run by disabled people and has been offering a wide range of shows for over nine years.

Web accessibility training

Radioudaan, an organization dedicated to promoting accessibility and inclusivity, is helping individuals with visual impairments clear web accessibility certification through dedicated training programs. This certification is highly valued in the IT sector, and can open up new job opportunities for visually impaired individuals.

Udaan idol

This is a singing competition for people with disabilities. The competition has received a great response and has provided a platform for talented musicians to showcase their skills.

RJ Hunt

We have also organized a hunt for disabled radio jockeys to give them an opportunity to pursue a career in radio. The response to this initiative has been overwhelmingly positive and has helped to create more job opportunities for people with disabilities.. Radioudaan held an "RJ Hunt" competition.

National Quiz competition

We have organized several quiz competitions to enhance knowledge and skills of individuals to help them crack competetive exams. These events have been well received and have helped to raise awareness about the capabilities of people with disabilities.

National Debate competition

We have also organized debates on various topics related to disability rights and inclusion. These debates have been a great platform for people to express their opinions and advocate for the rightsof PWDs .

Our National Conference

Radioudaan, a leading organization working for the rights of people with disabilities, has been organizing a national conference every year since 2014 in different cities across India.

Matrimony Meet

Udaan empowerment trust is also helping people find their matrimonial alliance through our broadcast shows and meets which were organized in Delhi and Bangalore. So far, our efforts have helped many couples find their soul mates and lead them to matrimony.

Insite Braille Magazine

Radioudaan, in collaboration with Mitrajyothi, has launched a braille magazine called Insight. This magazine is published every year and is distributed to over 100 people with visual impairments, helping them to stay updated with braille and improve their spelling skills.

Seminars and Workshops

RadioUdaan is a well-known organization that has been working to empower and support visually impaired individuals in India. With the help of the National Institute for Empowerment of Persons with Visual Disabilities (NIEPVD) and other respected NGOs, RadioUdaan has conducted several technical workshops for visually impaired persons in different parts of India.

In today's times there is a lot of use of technology. It is used in a lot of places and without it there is no life. Nowadays we can see smart things like smart TV, lights, switches and many more things. As the technology is being developed many things have become useful for the blind.

Why Need of Radio Udaan

In India there are around 857 television channels and 837 radio stations in different cities. But how many of them cover the issues, events, achievements, tortures, schemes, facilities, laws, etc. pertaining to disable community? How many of them talk about the sexual abuse faced by visually impaired females, domestic violence or non-availability of proper opportunities for disabled?

Overall, the past year has been a very successful and productive one for Radioudaan. Through our various projects and initiatives, we have been able to make a positive impact on the lives of our listeners and the wider community.
